The Pause Project
This classroom project, part of my Interaction Design course, focused on addressing stress issues faced by college students and finding ways to promote relaxation. The brief was to explore how immersive and interactive spaces could help alleviate stress. We conducted research into common stress factors for students and examined the benefits of multi-sensory experiences for relaxation. The project aimed to design an environment that effectively supports and enhances student well-being.
Project type - Classroom Project
Duration - 2 Week
Team - Garv, Sharayu, Radhika, Nandini and Abhishek
Role - Shooting and Editing the video, Ideation, Sound Designing, Space Designing
Process - After conducting primary and secondary research, we analyzed the data and organized it into
sections to address the issue in a more efficient and effective way for students and everyone involved. We
created a questionnaire and conducted interviews to gather diverse perspectives. Once we identified the key
issues, we moved on to the ideation phase.
We designed a flexible, enclosed space using display boards, soft boards, and fabric, which served as a multi-purpose zone for prototyping immersive and interactive experiences. To ensure a seamless immersive experience, we employed projection mapping techniques using Adobe After Effects. This involved projecting calming visuals onto the walls, soft boards, and display boards within the space.
The Immersive Sanctuary also features a carefully crafted soundscape, combining calming ambient music, instrumental pieces, nature sounds, and soothing voices. This approach caters to diverse user preferences and aligns with the insights gained from our research, creating a relaxing environment tailored to student needs.
